Religion and Values

In Religion and Values this term, we have been learning about the meaning of Christmas.

All year levels have learnt about the Nativity story to build an understanding of Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem to welcome baby Jesus. We have completed activities reflecting on this exciting time of year and focused on how we can work towards being kinder during Advent.

Year 1 students completed beautiful colouring-in on important scenes from the Nativity, while year 2 students completed special wishes they would like to carry out during Advent.

Year 2 students will finish off the year learning about different Christmas traditions from around the world whilst sharing their own unique traditions.

Swimming Program

During weeks 8 and 9 of this term, Clyde Grammar students have taken part in important swimming and water safety lessons at Kingswim Clyde North.

The lessons have been enthusiastically welcomed by students who have been enjoying learning new skills with their friends. Well done to all students who participated over the two-week program in a very exciting way to finish off the school year.

Creating Games

Earlier in the term, during physical education lessons, Year 2 students worked together in teams to create their very own games. Each group had to create a game with three to four rules that they could then teach to the rest of the class. The games were lots of fun with some new takes on old games, and some completely new and unique games.

STEM

Year 2 students have been busy planning, designing, creating, testing and evaluating while developing small shelters out of a range of materials.

Using a fan and a spray bottle, we simulated wind and rain to test that the shelters could withstand the elements and protect a small paper human. The students loved using their creative minds and came up with some fantastic ideas.

“My shelter protected my paper human from both the wind and the rain.” Jasmine 2B

“The rain made my shelter all wet, but the foil kept the rain from getting inside.” Aaditveer 2A

Year 1 STEM

Year 1 students worked together in groups to make some impressive structures using a range of different building materials. An important part of the process was cooperating with others and sharing resources.

Foundation ICT

Foundation students have continued their development into becoming fluent users of digital technology. They have been practicing logging in, creating drawings on Microsoft Paint and have even attempted to save their own work.
