FOUNDATION NEWS

Swimming Spectacular

We are incredibly proud of our Foundation cohort! Their effort, flexibility and perseverance in swimming has been admirable. They jumped in the pool each day with big smiles and their best listening ears on. Watch out everyone, I think we might have some future Olympic swimmers on our hands!

Mathematics Fun

In Foundation we have been learning about graphs and collecting our own data. One of our activities involved graphing our own collection of jellybeans and answering a series of questions related to our graph. We even got to eat some jellybeans! We then created our own ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions to ask our friends.

Christmas Fun!

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way! Christmas fun is happening right here in Foundation A, where we are embracing the festive season in our art projects. We have made cute Christmas penguins that we carefully cut and collaged, including a dreamy pastel Christmas scene, featuring ourselves.

Measuring How Tall our Plants Have Grown

In the garden, we continue to see our crops flourish with the little bit of recent sunshine. We are using our new measurement skills to record and graph their growth. At this rate, we will beat Jack up the beanstalk!

It didn’t take long for our radishes to grow. The students enjoyed pulling these spicy vegetables out of the garden and nibbling them for morning tea.

The students wanted to educate their peers on how to care for their garden by working in pairs to create some colourful signs.

YEAR 1 NEWS

Year 1 students have celebrated their dedication to learning all year by completing some fun Christmas art activities.

They have followed step-by-step instructions and listened carefully to complete their colourful creations. The students are very proud of their artwork and their teachers have been very impressed too.

YEAR 2 NEWS

Year 2B

Wow what an exciting year it has been!

This term in year 2B, we have been learning about letter writing by exchanging fifty letters with other schools around Australia.

There has been a real buzz in the air as we complete bucket-filling activities such as cleaning up an area of your house, or writing three qualities that you like about yourself.

We also had our class assembly. where we took everyone on a journey from Prep all the way to Year 2, sharing their favourite memories at Clyde Grammar!

Year 2A

It has been a very busy and enjoyable final few weeks in Year 2A!

Incursion

Supreme Incursions visited to show us the history of toys and let us play with a number of different games that we had not tried before.

Remembrance Day

We commemorated Remembrance Day with a large wreath image, and we discussed the importance of remembering those who gave their lives for us.

Maths

We explored place value skills and developed a challenge for each other by creating a number using different items, then had our partner guess the correct number. It was challenging, but lots of fun to see the different combinations we each made.

Art

We learned several techniques to create different pieces of artwork, focusing on lines, patterns and blank spaces. We watched short videos and worked in small groups to create our artwork.

We also made some decorative rocks to hide around the playground as a feature for our school. We enjoyed adding colour and sparkles to brighten our play space.

Wild About Babies Excursion

On Tuesday, 29 November we went to Docklands and viewed the Mirvac ‘Wild about Babies’ exhibit displaying a number of endangered species statues. We learned several facts about each animal and enjoyed some fun in the sun.
