Specialist Classes – August 2025

This term has been full of energy and creativity across our specialist subjects. From imaginative storytelling and inventive projects to exploring values, teamwork and performance, students have embraced every opportunity. Physical activity and collaboration have shone through in sport, while Performing Arts encouraged movement and expression. It’s been a joy to see students building skills and confidence through a wide range of enriching experiences.

Library

Foundation students have been enjoying the ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon’ stories by Mo Willems. The Year 5 students have created their own version for a display, ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon Ruin the Library Book!’ which our younger students have really enjoyed reading. The Willems series are very popular when it comes to borrowing time!

STEM/ICT

This term in the Technologies classroom, students have been diving into the world of physics – applying their understanding to plan, design, and refine their very own STEM Inventions Projects. Several students chose to design and build fully functional bow-and-arrow prototypes! These impressive inventions showcase their ability to bring ideas to life through thoughtful engineering and testing.

Religion/Values

Term 3 began with great excitement, and we are exploring stories from the Old Testament.

Foundation students have been learning about the creation story and their role in caring for the world around them. Year 2 students have been introduced to the story of the prophet Samuel, discovering how they can learn to listen, reflect, and respond thoughtfully to guidance in their own lives.

Health & PE

At the end of term 3, Year 5 students made an impressive debut in interschool sport at the Winter Gala Day, representing our school in netball, soccer and AFL. They showed plenty of determination despite the wet and windy conditions.

Early in term, some of our Year 5 students competed in the Hoop Time tournament, showing great teamwork and determination. Each player gave it their all on the court and represented our school with pride.

Performing Arts

Year 1 students have been exploring dance through the theme of toys – bringing cars, Lego and other toys to life. We have zoomed, stacked, and built our way through imaginative movements, then turned them into lively whole-class dances. Students have had so much fun dancing, moving, and imagining together.
