STEM/ICT
Our Foundation students have explored technology in STEM this term. They have especially enjoyed learning how to use Bee-Bots and discovering the basics of coding and directional language.
Students have created their own maps and worked with a partner to provide the correct algorithm of instructions to help reach a chosen destination. It has been great to see lots of problem-solving, teamwork, excitement and light bulb moments as our young coders put their new skills into action.
Religion & Values
As part of their Religion lessons, our Year 6 students organised a very successful Daffodil Day fundraiser. Through kindness, teamwork, efficiency and generosity, they worked together to make a difference.
The students created posters and a video to educate the school community about Daffodil Day and visited each class to sell fundraising items. It was a wonderful experience that saw our students demonstrate compassion and how they can be a blessing to others in need.
Performing Arts
This term, our Years 3-6 students put their dance skills into practice as they prepared their concert pieces. They explored styles from Jazz and Hip Hop to Bhangra and Musical Theatre.
Year 6 students took this a step further, drawing on everything they have learnt about movement, choreography and performance to create their own musical theatre dance. They worked in small groups to choreograph different sections of the dance, before combining their ideas to create the final piece.
We look forward to seeing all their hard work come together on stage in November for our end-of-year Performing Arts Showcase!
Health & PE
Our Foundation and Year 1 students have been busy developing their Basketball skills in PE. Students have been practicing dribbling, ball control, teamwork and moving safely with the ball.
We’ve added some extra fun by using hula hoops and skipping ropes to create pathways and challenges, helping students practice dribbling while on the move. It has been fantastic to see their confidence, coordination and control improving each week.
Term 3 was a massive one for Sport at Clyde Grammar, with our students having more opportunities than ever to represent the school. The term began with District Athletics, then students competed at the Casey Netball Tournament across our Years 3-4 and Years 5-6 teams.
Years 5-6 students then participated in the Summer Gala Day, representing Clyde Grammar across Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Cricket and Softball. We’ve also had Junior and Senior Hoop Time, the Rugby Gala Day and Division Athletics, with plenty of training, trials and preparation.
It has been excellent to see so many students put their hand up to get involved, trying new sports, supporting others and representing Clyde Grammar with great effort and sportsmanship. It’s been a huge term of sport with plenty for our students to be proud of!
Visual Art
As Term 3 ends in Visual Art, it’s time to reflect on how our students have accomplished so much and learnt many new skills. It has been exciting to see how focused and immersed they have become in their artwork, approaching each project with a spirit of coordination, enthusiasm, creativity, and determination.
Foundation students have created funky birds and cheeky chickens using pieces of cardboard. They added colour, texture and fun details to make their birds burst with personality. Each creation is unique and full of character, showcasing their imaginations.
Year 1 students worked with patience and determination as they learnt to thread through hessian material. Beginning by painting their material, they then carefully wove thread through the hessian to create detailed lines and patterns before adding beads to decorate their artwork.
This project has encouraged the students to develop their fine motor skills while experimenting with colour, texture and design.
Our Year 2 students have begun decorating recycled cylinders and small boxes to create a collaborative totem pole. Using patterns and imaginative designs, they are transforming their recycled materials into colourful and unique pieces.
Once completed, the individual creations will be threaded onto a wooden pole, bringing them together to form a tall, vibrant totem pole. This collaborative artwork is encouraging students to share ideas, collaborate, experiment with design and contribute to a larger group creation.
