Specialist Classes

In Library, students have used their imagination to design a cover for their favourite book. In STEM/ICT, Year 1 students have recycled materials to create weird and wonderful music instruments and in Religion & Values, students have learnt about the life of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

Library

The Year 5 students have been creating a version of their favourite book and they have worked hard to design a book cover that would entice the library audience. Next week, they will be completing their projects by writing a blurb for their treasured story and then the covers will be displayed in the library for all the students to see.

STEM/ICT

Year 1 students explored their sense of hearing and were given the task of creating a musical instrument that makes sound. They reused cardboard boxes and other recyclable materials to create some imaginative instruments and were excited to explore the design process.

Year 3 students have recently been introduced to the Scratch Jr app. They have learnt to create an interactive story, using coding to incorporate motion, sound and personalised characters. Students have developed their sequencing skills and were proud to share their stories with each other.

Religion/Values

The Foundation students have learnt about St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, whose life serves as an example to us all. As a follow-up activity, they created a special keepsake — a leprechaun that was made using their own handprint. Leprechauns are mythical characters that add a touch of fun to St Patrick’s Day.

The Year 3 students have been learning about discovering God in creation. They explored a passage from Jeremiah 32 about the power of creation and drew pictures to illustrate their ideas.

Spanish

Year 3 students recently practised their introductions and greetings. They utilised their growing oral knowledge, reading skills, and willingness to ‘have a go’ in order to have conversations with each other in Spanish.

Health & PE

Our recent Colour Fun Run event was a massive hit. All students were very enthusiastic to run through the colour-filled obstacle course that finished with some of our favourite teachers getting slimed.

Bike Education

The Year 5 students have started a bike education program that will see them learning essential movement and skills to safely experience the fun and adventure of travelling on two wheels.

Foundation

In PE, Foundation students have been focusing on their jumping and balancing skills and they have worked hard to master the correct techniques while having lots of fun.

Performing Arts

Foundation students have been working hard to learn all the actions and words to ‘I Just Can’t Wait to Be King’ fromThe Lion King.
Year 1s have enjoyed composing music using percussion instruments and have explored concepts like tempo through movement.
Year 2s have worked in small groups to compose some simple rhythms on Boomwhackers and they are also learning the Harry Potter theme tune.
Year 3 students have finished their recorder unit and are now beginning to explore fairytale characters in Drama, while Year 4 students have started to learn about slapstick comedy.
Meanwhile, Year 5s have almost finished learning ‘Peaches’ from The Super Mario Bros. Movie on the glockenspiel.
