Community Achievements – May 2026

Two of our students have been recognised for their performing arts skills and community work at the recent 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards for Victoria.

Hosted by 7NEWS presenter Karina Carvalho, the event celebrated the state’s young achievers.

Minister for Youth, the Hon. Luba Grigorovitch, presented Clyde Grammar Year 3 student Sriyansh as a semi-finalist in the Josh’s Rainbow Eggs Ethical Business Award, which acknowledges young entrepreneurs prioritising more than just profits.

Sriyansh is a performing artist and member of the Abhyudaya Nataka Mandali drama school. He has been learning Carnatic music, which originated in Southern India, since he was five and is preparing for Grade 2 music exams conducted by the Academy of Fine Arts in London.

Already a veteran of more than 14 stage dramas, Sriyansh donates earnings from these and his music performances to community groups including the Abhyudaya Cultural Association and the Telugu Association of Australia. He also provides voiceover work.

The recognition has motivated Sriyansh to further develop his skills through training, take on more performance opportunities, and explore different artistic styles.

“I felt really proud and grateful to be recognised for something I’m so passionate about,” he says. “Walking onto the stage to accept the award was an unforgettable experience; it was a mix of excitement, happiness, and a little bit of nerves.”

“It means a lot to me, and it has inspired me to keep working hard and use my talents to make a positive impact.”

Sriyansh’s sister Hrithika (Sri), a Clyde Grammar Year 6 student, was also nominated for the Little Gigs ‘Little Victorian’s’ Achiever Award for children who show passion for a cause bigger than themselves.

Hrithika (Sri) is also a gifted performer, whose multilingual stage performances and independent voice work promote cultural connection, and demonstrate remarkable dedication to the arts.

Our Principal, Leanne Evans, is proud of both students. “Sriyansh and Hrithika (Sri) show admirable dedication to their craft and community,” Mrs Evans said.

“As students, they love Performing Arts and can always be relied upon to learn a song, dance or script. They always embrace opportunities to participate and are an absolute joy to have at our school.”

“Sriyansh also demonstrates remarkable empathy and compassion at a young age in donating his earnings to charity, which will make a difference. We are extremely proud of his achievement.”
