STEM/ICT

This term, Year 1 students have been exploring the wonderful world of paper and discovering where it comes from. Through a range of practical Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) challenges, they have designed and created paper chains, parachutes, bridges, helicopters and much more.
As part of their learning about sustainability, students used paper as their main material because it is renewable, recyclable and environmentally friendly. They investigated the properties of paper and tested how it could be shaped and strengthened to solve different design challenges.
It has been fantastic to see our young learners working collaboratively and developing their problem solving skills while learning about sustainable materials and their impact on our world.
Performing Arts

Students have been busy preparing and performing a range of Drama pieces this term. Year 2 students brought familiar fairy tales to life through scripted performances, while Year 3 put their own creative spin on classic stories by transforming them into twisted fairy tales.
Year 4 students entertained us with hilarious slapstick comedy scenes, and Year 5 created original radio plays, complete with sound effects and stories devised in groups. Year 6 students showed great courage by writing and performing their own monologues.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, confidence and effort shown by all classes.

Winter Gala Day
On Wednesday, 10 June, our Year 5 and Year 6 students participated in the Clyde District Winter Gala Day. Students competed in round robin tournaments across AFL, soccer, Tee Ball, badminton and netball.
Across all sports, they demonstrated excellent teamwork and perseverance as they competed throughout the day. A special congratulations to our boys badminton team, who finished runners up and brought home Clyde Grammar’s first ever pennant.
We look forward to continuing this sporting momentum in Term 3, when students begin preparing for the Summer Gala Day.
Bike Education
This term, our Year 5 students have been participating in a Bike Education program designed to develop their cycling confidence and road safety awareness.
Throughout the program, they have practised bike handling skills, completed safety checks, learned how to ride safely in different environments and developed a greater understanding of responsible cycling behaviours.
It has been fantastic to see students challenge themselves, support one another and grow in confidence each week. We thank families for their support in ensuring students had their bikes and equipment ready for each session.

Visual Art

With Term 2 coming to an end, our school is filled with vibrant student artwork. There are display boards bursting with creative pieces inspired by many well known artists.
In Foundation, students enjoyed drawing enchanted mushrooms inspired by Yayoi Kusama, while exploring her signature use of polka dots. After learning about Claude Monet and the Impressionist movement, they also created beautiful watercolour lily pad artworks inspired by his famous pond paintings.
Year 1 created their own versions of Yayoi Kusama’s famous pumpkin artworks, decorating them with detailed patterns and vibrant backgrounds. They also explored abstract landscapes, using paint sticks to create bold blocks of colour and paint pens to add intricate lines and patterns.
Students in Year 2 have been focusing on detail while creating Australian landscapes inspired by Moira Hazel. They painted vibrant backgrounds and used paint pens to carefully illustrate a variety of Australian native plants.
Through this project, students developed their fine motor skills, attention to detail and appreciation for Australia’s unique flora.
As part of our Term 2 collaborative project, each year level worked together to create a wall hanging inspired by Wassily Kandinsky. Students explored his famous concentric circles and used watercolour paints to add vibrant colours to the fabric.
This large scale artwork showcased students’ creativity, teamwork and understanding of Kandinsky’s distinctive artistic style.
