FOUNDATION – YEAR 2
The beginning of Term 3 has been a world of activity in Foundation to Year 2, with celebrations of wonderful achievements and the arrival of some gorgeous, fluffy additions to our classrooms!
Our Foundation students celebrated their 100th day of school on Friday, 31 July. There was plenty of enthusiasm and joy throughout the day, beginning with lots of balloons to throw! Students rotated between the two classrooms, taking part in a range of fun activities, including ‘100 Days’ themed art, cooking and creating a special crowns.
After lunch, students relaxed and used up some of their happy energy dancing to some tunes at the disco. The day also included popcorn and sweet treats, making it a truly memorable celebration. 100 Days of School was such a happy day for everyone!
Teachers and students were certainly thankful that it fell on a Friday, giving everyone the chance to rest and recharge the following day! You can view some photos from the day here.
On Friday, 24 July 2026, our Year 1 students celebrated an exciting milestone: 101 Days of School! The day was packed with fun as students took part in a range of puppy themed activities to mark the occasion.
From creative challenges to hands on games, there was plenty of laughter, learning and tail wagging excitement as we celebrated 101 wonderful days of learning together!
Year 2 students have had a very busy start to Term 3 with the exciting arrival of the chicks! Their Humanities unit has been an engaging opportunity to learn about the life cycle of chicks and explore how to care for animals. Students are investigating the needs of living things and developing an understanding of how animals grow, change and require care.
They are continuing this theme in Writing by creating information reports about their chosen animals. Students have researched and collected information to write factual reports that include their animal’s features, habitat, diet, life cycle, behaviours and interesting facts. They are also developing their skills in organising and presenting information clearly and effectively.

Foundation – Year 2 Coordinator
Opening our classroom to our wonderful parents is always an exciting occasion for everyone! Our Foundation A students loved sharing their learning by playing a range of maths activities with their families and showcasing the progress they have made this year.
Dominoes, Numicon and other maths games were especially popular. This time, the students became the teachers, confidently showing their parents how to use our maths resources to deepen their understanding of numbers. It was wonderful to see their confidence, enthusiasm and pride as they shared their learning with their loved ones.
Foundation B students have been enjoying their spelling groups, building their skills in sounding out words, forming letters correctly and using punctuation. We have also been very excited to use our lined writing books for the first time!
During our spelling groups, the students especially love the independent, hands on activities that reinforce our current focus sound in a fun and engaging way.
Our Year 1 students have been enthusiastically exploring the world of multiplication and division through fun and practical learning experiences! Using sharing mats and counters, students have been creating equal groups, such as five groups of four, before using this understanding to build matching arrays.
There were plenty of excited discussions as students discovered different ways to organise objects into equal groups. Over the coming weeks, we will build on these strong visual foundations by connecting this practical learning to multiplication and division equations, helping students develop a deeper understanding of these important mathematical concepts.
Our Year 2 classes have been excited to welcome chicken eggs into the classroom and experience the amazing journey from egg to chick. The students have been eagerly watching as the chicks slowly hatched and have loved observing the chicks grow stronger and fluffier each day. They have also had lots of fun naming the chicks, making the experience even more special.
This experience helped bring our learning to life as we explored the chicken life cycle and discovered how chicks grow and develop. It has been a wonderful opportunity that students will treasure.
Year 2 students have been developing their understanding of multiplication by exploring equal groups, arrays and repeated addition. Using practical resources such as Numicon and counters, students have created visual representations to help them solve multiplication problems and explain their mathematical thinking.
YEARS 3 – 6
After what felt like an age of watching our new gym slowly rise from the ground, we are finally in!
And what better way to celebrate National Pyjama Day than by filling our brand new, state-of-the-art gym with students in their coolest pyjamas. It was the perfect setting for a morning of fun, dancing, laughter and making wonderful memories with friends. Judging by the smiles and some very enthusiastic dance moves (sadly, not mine), the excitement was impossible to miss.
One of the biggest surprises was how comfortably the entire Junior School fitted in only one half of the gym! It certainly gives us plenty of room for future celebrations, sporting events and countless exciting opportunities in the years ahead. We have a feeling this space is going to be the backdrop for many special memories.
We also officially opened our new Year 3 – 6 playground. It is an incredible space that encourages exploration, creativity and active play. We are confident it will keep Clyde Grammar students entertained for many years to come.
A friendly reminder that the playground is open only during supervised recess and lunch times. For safety reasons, students are not permitted to use the playground before or after school. We greatly appreciate your support in helping us keep everyone safe while they enjoy these fantastic new facilities.

Year 3-6 Coordinator
Year 3 students have been working incredibly hard as they explore multiplication. To bring their learning to life, students designed their very own array cities, creating colourful city buildings with windows arranged in rows and columns. For each building, they wrote the matching multiplication equation and repeated addition number sentence.
This fun and creative activity helped students strengthen their understanding of multiplication while showcasing their fantastic artistic skills. We are very proud of their effort and enthusiasm!
Year 4 students enjoyed a wonderful day at Smiths Lane Park, reconnecting after the holidays through play, exploration and shared experiences. Back in the classroom, they transformed their adventure into a recount, focusing on sequencing events, including key details and using descriptive language. It was a meaningful way to strengthen their writing skills while reflecting on a memorable day.
To celebrate the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Year 4 students held their very own Potato Commonwealth Games. Each student had a potato athlete compete across six events: rhythmic gymnastics, weightlifting, bowling, balancing, diving and distance.
They incorporated measurement skills throughout the events while recording and comparing results. It was a great way to connecting their learning to the Commonwealth Games.
Year 5A has been bringing mathematics to life! Using a variety of maths resources, students explored square and cube numbers by building arrays and three-dimensional models, helping them visualise these concepts in meaningful ways.
They also investigated factors to determine whether numbers were prime or composite, working collaboratively to explain and justify their thinking. These activities help students build confidence, strengthen their mathematical reasoning and develop a deeper understanding of number concepts that will support their future learning.
Our Year 5 students had a fantastic time with their Foundation buddies, using dominoes in a range of maths activities. The buddies enjoyed the Rocket Ship ordering game to strengthen number sequencing before challenging themselves with the Single Addition Flip Challenge. It was wonderful to see our Year 5 students demonstrating leadership, patience and encouragement while helping their buddies develop confidence in mathematics.
They entertained the audience while sharing highlights from their science learning, their study of Eric by Shaun Tan and the fun of Winter Gala Day. We are incredibly proud of their effort and teamwork.
6B students have hit the ground running this term. We have been having fun looking at different perspectives and examples of bias, rewriting classic children’s tales from the point of view of other characters. Students have also been investigating the properties of rectangles and using mathematical formulas to calculate area and perimeter.
In our Integrated Studies lessons, we have been learning about Australia’s neighbours and the similarities and differences in culture and physical geography.
