Celebrating Excellence in Teaching

Clyde Grammar is proud to share that Year 3 teacher, Ms Bellamie Evans, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Peter McRae Meyer Primary Teaching Prize.

Presented at the Scholarships and Awards Evening at Melbourne’s Arts Centre last week, the award honours the memory of Mr Peter Meyer, a passionate educator committed to excellence in teaching. It includes a framed certificate and $1,000, generously provided by the Meyer family.

Miss Evans joined Clyde Grammar at the beginning of this year and was nominated based on outstanding mentor reports and a strong recommendation from her teaching partner, Mr Greg Newham.

“I was truly honoured to receive the Peter McRae Meyer Primary Teaching Prize,” Miss Evans said. “To be recognised in memory of someone so respected in education is incredibly meaningful. It was a complete surprise and a very special moment in my career.”

Reflecting on the award, Miss Evans said it affirms the commitment she has shown throughout her studies and early teaching experience.

“It’s a reminder that the long hours and hard work during my training were all worth it. It has given me a boost of confidence and motivates me to continue growing as a teacher.”

Known for her kind and engaging classroom approach, Miss Evans credits her students as her daily inspiration.

“There’s something special about the energy and curiosity young students bring to the classroom. I aim to create an environment where each student feels welcome, supported and eager to learn.”

She also acknowledged the welcoming and supportive culture at Clyde Grammar.

“I feel very fortunate to be part of such a positive school community. The collegiality among staff really makes it feel like a Clyde family.”

Principal, Mrs Leanne Evans, congratulated Ms Evans, noting her dedication and strong rapport with students.

“Miss Evans exemplifies the values we uphold at Clyde Grammar. Her thoughtful practice and genuine care for students make her a deserving recipient of this award. We are proud of her and look forward to supporting her ongoing growth as an educator.”

The awards evening also offered recipients a chance to connect with associates of the Meyer family and reflect on the lasting legacy of Mr Meyer’s contribution to primary education.
