From the Principal

Term one is generally one of the hardest, most tiring of any school term. The students arrive with a mixture of excitement and anxiety that come with beginning a new year — a new classroom, a new teacher, new expectations, discoveries and a different mix of classmates to navigate.  However, I am exceptionally proud of how our new and existing students have embraced the beginning of 2023 at Clyde Grammar!

It is hard to believe that term one is already drawing to a close, and as such I would love to mention some highlights from the past 10 weeks.

It was humbling to see the children fully embrace the meaning behind Harmony Week, engaging in numerous meaningful discussions and activities and ending the week with a dress-up day full of fun, dancing and colour.

Our Year 3 cohort recently participated in their first NAPLAN test. It was great to see the students trust their abilities and approach each testing period relaxed and confident. Following the final session, the children played at the local park, engaging in some much-deserved fun and laughter.

The Clyde Grammar Parents and Friends Committee hit the ground running this term with their first fundraising venture. Thank you to the families who supported the school by selling (or eating) chocolate easter eggs. I love the enthusiasm of our PFC members, and I am sure this was the beginning of big and interesting things to come!

During Assemblies this term, a collection of students received achievement awards. Both Year 2A and Foundation A shared their learning and talents with the rest of the school, and a few lucky House ticket winners won a fun lunch date with me.

I would like to remind parents that it is compulsory for students to wear the winter uniform throughout Terms 2 and 3, and sun hats are not required.

Finally, as the person responsible for developing a positive culture for our learning community, I feel it is my responsibility to reiterate the importance of punctuality and school attendance. Please take the time to read the interesting article about school attendance that I have placed here.

I thank you for your ongoing support and wish you all a very happy Easter and restful holiday.
