Specialist Classes

Performing Arts

Our Year 2 students have been hard at work learning the essentials of scripts and stage blocking to perform a short play. Their enthusiasm and creativity have been truly inspiring as they have brought their characters to life. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and teamwork. Great job, Year 2!

Library

We are thrilled to announce the winners of this year’s Clyde Grammar National Simultaneous Storytime competition! Congratulations to Lincoln from Year 4, Jayden from Year 3, Austin from Year 2, and our winner from Foundation/Year 1 was Kayden. Each year level had an activity to complete related to the book, Bowerbird Blues, by Aura Parker. We are proud of all students who participated and showed hard work and dedication. Keep up the fantastic work!

STEM/ICT

With much excitement, our Year 3 and 4 students have been exploring the principles of flight. Assembling and testing rubber band helicopters, hoop gliders and parachutes has led to some successful flights and discoveries. Students enjoyed tinkering with their designs to critically evaluate what makes the most effective prototype.

Spanish

Years 3 and 4 students explored art by Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, and learnt that, in Mexico, people speak Spanish. They studied the national flag and also one of Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits,  noticing the flowers and bright colours the artist used. Students worked with classmates to complete puzzles of the artist and the flag of Mexico. Here are some of their illustrations of Frida Kahlo. Students will add bright colours to their drawings in the coming weeks.

Religion / Values

In Religion, students explored the Pentecost. This is a significant event when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles, marking the birth of the Church. They learnt that it reminds us of the Holy Spirit’s presence with us. Through action songs, students learnt about the Holy Spirit and embraced the message, ‘The Holy Spirit lives in me.’

Health & PE

Our Year 3 students were treated to an unforgettable experience when Melbourne AFL players Christian Salem, Harrison Petty, Jacob van Rooyen and Charlie Spargo made a special visit. Students had prepared their questions in advance and were eager to learn about training routines and the age at which these athletes first began playing AFL. The session was brimming with valuable lessons and motivational stories that undoubtedly left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
