Specialist Classes – October 2025

From coding and Spanish language games to Advent reflections, bowling excursions and concert rehearsals, students from Foundation to Year 5 have enjoyed opportunities to collaborate, create and explore. These specialist class experiences continue to support student development in meaningful ways, building confidence, curiosity and a love of learning beyond the classroom.

STEM/ICT

This term in Technologies, Year 1 students have been exploring the world of coding using Bee-Bot devices. These friendly robots are helping students develop their digital skills. Working in small teams, students programmed their Bee-Bot to draw shapes using simple sequences. It has been wonderful to see students grow in confidence as they test ideas, collaborate and bring their robots to life.

Library

This year’s Book Week theme was Book an Adventure, and the school came together to create a collaborative display inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Every student decorated a yellow brick to form a Yellow Brick Road in the library. The project highlighted student creativity and celebrated the joy of reading.

Spanish

In Year 4, students used wooden figures to revise their knowledge of family members before creating Spanish sentences with a focus on verbs.

Year 5 students played a recognition game using a banner and beanbags, identifying all 21 Spanish-speaking countries in both English and Spanish. Bien hecho! (well done).

During rotation lessons, students used a 3D globe to challenge each other to locate Spanish-speaking countries and their continents. It was great to see them using prior notes and assisting each other in locating continents.

Religion/Values

Our Year 2 students explored Advent as a time of waiting and preparing with hope, joy, peace and love. They created paper roses as symbols of hope and used them to form a beautiful Garden of Hope, which now brightens the classroom during this reflective season.

Performing Arts

Students from Foundation to Year 5 are rehearsing for their upcoming Performing Arts Showcase, A Night at the Movies, on Tuesday, 12 November. Each year level is preparing songs and dances inspired by popular films, ready to perform and celebrate another successful year in Performing Arts!

Health & PE

Year 5 students enjoyed an excursion to Oz Ten Pin as part of their year-level sport program. Their enthusiasm and willingness to participate created a positive and friendly atmosphere. Students are already looking forward to the next bowling session in Week 4 of Term 4.

Our Foundation to Year 2 students recently enjoyed a fun-filled Mini Athletics Day, full of energy and enthusiasm. The students took part in a range of activities including running, throwing, kicking and hitting, all while demonstrating wonderful sportsmanship. They celebrated each other’s achievements and worked together beautifully in events like the parachute games and team relay races.

It was fantastic to see so many families coming along to cheer on the students. A special highlight was the parent races at the end of the day, which brought plenty of laughter and excitement.

We extend a big thank you to our Year 5 students who ran the activities with professionalism and care. Their leadership and encouragement made the day even more special for our younger students.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success!
